3. City killer asteroide ☄️ nu med fordoblet risiko for at ramme Jorden i 2032 (22 Dec)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_YR4
Elliptisk bane der både går på indersiden af Jordens bane og på ydersiden af Mars' bane.
The asteroid will make its next close approach to Earth on 17 December 2028, when it will pass 7,970,000 ± 256,000 km from the planet. (distance Earth moon 384,400 km, =20.7 måne afstande)
The 2028 encounter will provide astronomers the opportunity to perform additional observations and extend the observation arc by four years. This will greatly improve calculations of 2024 YR4's orbit in preparation for its close approach around 22 December 2032.
Men hov. Nu er risikoen faldet igen
Opdaget af ATLAS.
Hvad er Atlas?
(fedt navn: In Greek mythology, the Titan Atlas was responsible for bearing the weight of the heavens on his shoulders, a burden given to him as punishment by Zeus. Father of many stars and a protagonist in one of Hercules' famous labours, Atlas was also known as a wise man and the founder of astronomy. )
ATLAS: Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System
ATLAS is an asteroid impact early warning system developed by the University of Hawaii and funded by NASA. It consists of four telescopes (Hawaii ×2, Chile, South Africa), which automatically scan the whole sky several times every night looking for moving objects.
ATLAS will provide a warning time depending on the size of the asteroid -- larger asteroids can be detected further from Earth. ATLAS will see a small (~20 meter) asteroid several days out, and a 100 meter asteroid several weeks out. A 100 meter asteroid has approximately 10 times the destructive force of the 2021 Tonga volcanic eruption.

Sjovt lille Fusions kapløb:
4) Fusion
EAST (China) 28.01.25:
https://www.sciencealert.com/artificial-sun-blazes-past-1000-seconds-in-new-fusion-record
Ny rekord:
The team behind the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) in China kept their fusion drive running for more than 1,000 seconds for the first time – lasting for 1,066 seconds (almost 18 minutes) to be exact.
-----
France’s CEA WEST Tokamak reactor recently maintained a plasma reaction for over 22 minutes—surpassing a milestone set in China last month. This extended run highlights ongoing progress in the pursuit of sustained fusion energy. Fusion, often viewed as the ultimate clean power source, requires immense temperatures (over 100 million °C) and precise control of high-energy plasma. The challenge isn’t to trigger fusion—scientists can do that in small-scale experiments—but to keep it going without damaging reactor components or losing stability. The WEST team not only exceeded the previous record by 25% but also demonstrated a way to manage heat loads and pollution within the reactor. This achievement serves as a crucial step toward refining technologies for more ambitious projects like the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), now under construction in southern France. While WEST itself won’t become a commercial reactor, its data and research will inform the design and operation of future large-scale fusion efforts.
